Missions Team
We seek to reach out and serve the community by sharing God's love in both practical and meaningful ways. Projects include such things as collecting items for people in need, partnering with other organizations that offer help to individuals/families, and supporting a variety of global ministries. If you would like to help guide the future of missions at Plantation UMC, we'd love to talk with you! For more information, contact Carol Ferrero by email or at 954-288-6388.
Disaster Preparation & Disaster Relief
Prepare or repair is our team motto. One way or the other, we deliver Christ to our community! Preparing homes for upcoming storms, and cleaning up and repairing after the storm has passed. For more information, contact us at at 954-584-7500.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization that strives to eliminate poverty housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes for families in need. Volunteers are needed. For more information, please contact Debbie Gonzalez by email or at 954-401-3594.
Florida United Methodist Children's Home
The Florida United Methodist Children's Home was established in 1908 to provide a home for orphans and other children that had nowhere else to live. Today it serves as a diverse ministry with two campuses that include residential, therapeutic group, foster and emergency shelter care. The Home also provides independent living assistance and a community child care center. For more information on this vital ministry, click here, or contact Ray Posgay by email.
Plantation Multicultural/Interfaith Committee
We bring people of diverse faith and cultural heritages together in an effort to foster mutual respect and closer relationships. This is done by reminding and educating people of the vision and dream of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Each year we host a Martin Luther King celebration in our Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. Other annual events include our International Cuisine Luncheon (held in October), and a scholarship program for graduating high school students. For more information, contact us at 954-584-7500.
LifeNet 4 Families *Currently Suspended Operations Due to COVID-19*
We partner with this ecumenical ministry of Broward County, which provides a hot meal for the hungry six days a week. Our day to serve is the fourth Thursday of each month. We need four volunteers each time to serve from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Please contact Pat Hance at 954-830-7234 for more info.
Jubilee Center
We at Plantation United Methodist Church are responding to Jesus' call in many ways. Jubilee Center, a soup kitchen, food pantry, clothing bank (and so much more!) is one of the volunteer opportunities God has given us to respond to his call to serve our community. The Jubilee Center takes its name from the Biblical Year of Jubilee in Leviticus - the great year of social justice. Since 1984, the Jubilee Center offers services to the poor and homeless. They serve approximately 150 people a day. We assist Jubilee with donations of food, clothing and hands on service. They need volunteers who can work any day from Monday through Friday (holidays included) from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Closed shoes are a must for your safety. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jubilee Center Director Charlene Fleuremon at 954-920-0106.
Adopt-A-Family/Adopt-A-Child
This holiday project enables us to reach out into the community to make connection with families and to demonstrate God's love during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Partnering with specific agencies since 1985, we've provided Thanksgiving baskets and Christmas gifts to families and children in need. As of 2015, our partner has been ChildNet which serves foster families here in Broward County.
Quilters
The Quilters meet once a week on Fridays at 9:30am. The quilts are our mission, and are donated to communities and individuals in need. We typically share a dessert and coffee during our time together.
